Pocket Mahj — Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 27, 2026
Pocket Mahj ("the app") is operated by POCKET MAHJ LLC ("we", "us"). This policy describes what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. The short version: the app has no user accounts, shows no ads, does not track you across other apps or websites, and never sells your data.
What we collect
- Anonymous player ID. When you first launch the app, an anonymous account is created automatically (via Firebase Authentication). It is a random identifier — we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any password, and there is no registration.
- Install identifier. A random identifier the app generates on your device to distinguish installs. It is not a hardware or advertising identifier, and it resets if you reinstall the app.
- Device information. The device model (for example, an iPhone hardware identifier) and the app version, used to diagnose device-specific problems.
- Gameplay activity. The moves you make in the game — taps, tile placements, board states, and timestamps — linked to your anonymous player ID. We use this to run the game, investigate bugs, and improve gameplay.
- Purchase records. If you make an in-app purchase, we record the product purchased, the store's order identifier, and the purchase time so we can deliver and restore what you bought. Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see your card or payment details.
- Invite-code redemption. During early access, the app records which invite code your install redeemed.
What we do NOT collect
No name, email, or phone number. No contacts, photos, or files. No precise location. No advertising identifiers. The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics SDKs, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We never sell your information, and we never share it for advertising.
How we use it
To operate the game (deliver purchases, keep your balances and progress consistent, restore access after reinstall), to provide support and fix problems, and to improve the game by understanding how it is actually played.
Who processes it
We use Google Firebase and Google Cloud (authentication, database, servers, hosting) to run the service; data is stored on Google Cloud servers in the United States. Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) process payments for in-app purchases. These providers process data for us — not for their own advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep the data described above while we operate the service. If you ask us to delete your data, we will remove it, except records we are required to retain (for example, transaction records for accounting and fraud prevention).
Your choices — including deletion
You can ask us to delete the data linked to your anonymous player ID at any time: email dev@pocketmahj.dev and include your Player ID, which you can copy from Settings → About → Player ID in the app (tap the row to copy the full ID). We will confirm when deletion is complete.
One device note: on iOS, the anonymous player ID is stored in the device Keychain and can survive deleting the app. A deletion request to us removes our server-side copy regardless.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app and want the associated data removed, contact us at the address below.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to stored data is restricted (server-side rules and an access-controlled admin surface).
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and its effective date.
